Mark's life. One day at a time or less...

8/22/00
Our network is down. Maybe I have e-mail waiting. I may never know. I was on the phone with the people who installed our T-1 router. They asked me to "power-cycle the unit". I asked them if they meant turn it off and turn it back on. They said yes.

I got a lot of ideas today. Most of them were bad. Not morally bad, just stupid. I like playing songs into my little DAT machine. That has nothing to do with said ideas.

Finally got to go to Breakfast at Gracies and Happy Hour at the Laurelthirst. It was nice. There were lots of new people at the Laurelthirst. I guess the times are changing and I am getting old. I did my laundry during happy hour.

We played a show at the Mad Hatter. It was fun. It was Bjorn's last show. It was our Rocket to Venus CD release, but we forgot to mention our CD at the show really. I guess you can't win 'em all. A guy recorded the show on minidisc. He also gave us a CD of a show from a couple months ago, which was cool. It sounded good.

I actually met Cedric Justice on a boat. He even knew Kanaan Kanaan!

8/17/00
We played at the Medicine Hat with Jackass Willie and Joshua James and the Runaway Trains. There were actually a lot of people there. Especially since we played first. Later everyone got tired and left.

Gotta love bein' alive. Or not.

I want to get $100 worth of Pabst. I wonder how much Pabst that is. We could probably only fit a small portion in our fridge at any given time. I haven't had a dishwasher in so long that I've forgotten the lingo. I was at work (where we do have a dishwasher) and said I would unpack the dishes.

I remember one time we got these tapes for learning Japanese. I don't know how we got them. There were two people teaching pronunciation, a man and a woman. So every other thing I learned I would say normally (man) and the rest I only learned to say in a really high voice.

I was at the wedding of Juliana and Matt. I could give details, but we would probably all be arrested. It was in Michigan. We went bowling.

I have decided that I like drinking Tanqueray and tonic because it is kind of like mouthwash. Tomorrow I go to Michigan. My hair is really greasy!

8/9/00
The toilet in the men's room where I work flushes so violently that sometimes a little piece of poop will fly out. Gross!!!

8/8/00
I had this hair in my nose that was bothering me, so I pulled it out. So there.

Not a lot going on today. I am noticing a trend here. Went to Something Fishy Cafe. There was a girl dressed as a "bathing beauty", but I thought she was trying to be a clam. Her hat looked like a clam kinda. She took it pretty well. Hmmm. Is there something sexual about thinking someone is trying to look like a clam. You know, when they're a girl?

8/6/00
Hmm. So I get back from the pristine wilderness all dirty with dirt up my nose and stuff. Then we played music at the 52nd Avenue Sports Bar for several hours. Woo-hoo. Does it get any better than this????

8/5/00
Lemme see. I actually am writing this on the seventh, but if it was the fifth, I would be going camping up by Mt. Hood for the night with a bunch of bluegrass people. Then we would drink beers and play music until we got tired and I fell asleep on the ground. Ah, summer.

Today is Friday. For some reason this is universally seen as good. Don't matter much to me, but it's a pretty good day. I decided to make a zine, last night, so I did. It's called "out of context". Volume one is done except for the printing. I even started working on volume two, which will be quite a bit different. I don't know why I did these things. I don't even know what I'm doing this weekend except Sunday, when I will be playing music at the sports bar instead of having fun like I usually do. Oh well. I don't remember what I dreamed about last night, I just remember not wanting to get up. After I was up for about two or three minutes I decided I was okay with the whole getting up thing.

Well, well. I feel pretty good today. Not sure why. I got Thai Peacock to go. I forgot what I ordered, but it was pretty good. Last night I had some dreams that involved traveling again, but it was one of those things where a bunch of people have to go somewhere far away, but I had to do some stupid errands first and worry if I would make it on time to go with the other people. For some reason this reminded me of a dream I had a few months ago where I was on some kind of big spaceship-airplane-blimp kind of thing. It was like a boat that could fly. It was really big. It was like a building that could fly. I have been trying to do a good job answering the phone today. The hardest part is right aroun noon when I don't know when to say "good morning" or "good afternoon". Usually I say "gooooood" for about 3 seconds while I look at the clock. So I sound like a moron. Oh well.

Today was OK. I was kind of tired. My lunch sucked. It's really hard to find a good lunch in downtown Portland that is quick and not too expensive. That's why I eat the same stuff over and over, everything else sucks. I think I'll do some laundry this evening. I can go see Little Sue at the Laurelthirst while I do my laundry. I saw some of the Republican Convention yesterday. Words cannot describe how lame it was and how disturbing I found it. I had weird dreams last night, but I forgot them. I think they had to do with traveling and murder or something like that. Almost time for me to leave work. I'm hungry because my lunch sucked. My mouth tastes like shit.

OK. Today is the first day of my online diary. I just had a cookie. Someone gave it to me. Last night I had dreams about shaving and bugs. That's about all I remember. Boy, I sure hate having a job and all that shit. If anyone has a better idea of what I should do, please e-mail me. I went to this Monday night cafe thing at Brady's place. It wasn't the same as Gracie's, really. It was kinda weird in that it was very much a celebration of our disposable culture (outdated junk technology (e.g. 5.25" floppies (discs that is)), disposable dishes and the like). I think it was inadvertantly so, but still a little strange. It's weird how various righteous causes aren't necessarily convergent a lot of the time (e.g. vegan lasagne in disposable tray). Oh well. I don't really try very hard to support what I believe in. Maybe I just don't really believe in the things that I think I should believe in. I think I've been kind of depressed lately. I did get a bonus at work. But I don't believe in money really. I wrote a song today. Not very good.
