Last Friday, I was about to sing "How Deep is Your Love" at Gold Flower (see separate review) when I was attacked by severe diarrhea (-1) for the second time (+1, less mess, more burn).  There was a long line (-1) for only one toilet (-1).  When I finally got there, I found there was a half a roll of toilet paper clogging the toilet (-2).  But there was also a cute girl in line behind me (-1) by whom I didn't want to be blamed for the toilet roll covered by my diarrhea (which would have been the only alternative to flooding the room with shitwater).  So I fished it out with my bare hand (+2) and then had satisfaction without embarrassment (+1).

What is Yodar?

The Guy Who Realized

Points: 2

10/4/00

I've been using Yodar as a name for a while. It came to me in a surprising way and resonated surprisingly within me. Aside from the first couple days (which were totally Yodar), I have alternated between Yodar and my Christian name, Mark. Some people even asked me what the distinction was. How could they tell when I was Mark or Yodar? Anyhow, I wasn't thinking about that one day, when, in conversation, a friend (and now I can't remember who) explained to someone else (though probably another friend) in front of me (but not to me) that I was Yodar when I had sunglasses on. Essentially he was, and is, right. One point for clearing up this nagging, if minor, issue, and another for doing it by surprise.

Chicago to Boston Flight

United Airlines

Points: 3

10/31/00

I was catching a connecting flight from Chicago (0) to Boston (0) yesterday. The plane was very empty (+2) and ready to leave right after I got off my first plane (+1).  It was, however, delayed at the gate (-1), with us passengers on it (-1). Shortly after the delay was announced, the steward or burser or flight attendant (or whatever they want to call him, but they should make up their minds -1) informed us that the entertainment system was out and that there would be no movie on the flight (0).  One might think that a lack of movie should be cause for negative points, but my first flight had "Rookie of the Year" (-3,and perhaps the subject of a future points review) , and I could do without that or the like.  The minutes stretched on (-1), but luckily I was reading a good book (+1).  Apparently, we were waiting for a aircraft part that was needed in Boston to be loaded on to our plane (+1 which breaks down in the following way: +1 point for the relief of it not being a problem with our aircraft, -1 point for making us wait for a non-essential (to us) item, +1 for the vague feelings of heroism we felt in imagining the salvation of a flight full of similar passengers in Boston with our delivery). Even after we knew what the delay was, it continued for almost an hour (-2).  A customer service representative gave all the passengers $50 travel vouchers for making us wait (+1), and the captain ordered the actually good-looking and friendly stewardessess (+1) to give us free alcolholic drinks (+2) during the flight.  All in all, pretty friendly skies: +3 points.
