black dress
i'm rewriting dante's inferno
and i got you in the seventh circle
with the traitors against
their lovers and lovers and friends.
and if it seems strange
that i feel this way,
then i guess that it's strange
that i feel this way about you.
before my thoughts turned to dante and virgil,
you were already in my blues song journal,
'cause you done done done done done done me wrong.
i'm painting a picture
of a happy family
holding out a note that reads:
nothing comes for free.
but when i imagine my future
i still see you in all my wedding pictures
with a veil and flowers
and a black black black black dress.
